It has a sweet,\u00a0sour taste, and an\u00a0alcohol\u00a0content of 10\u201315%. Varieties are available with whole\u00a0ume\u00a0fruits contained in the bottle, and some people make their own\u00a0umeshu\u00a0at home. Umeshu can be made either from real plum fruit, or using additive flavours and perfumes to emulate the taste of plums. Umeshu which is made from exclusively plum fruit (without additives) will be labelled as\u00a0Honkaku Umeshu\u00a0and will typically be made only from ume fruit, sugar, and alcohol.<\/p><p><strong>Yuzushu<\/strong><\/p><p>Yusushu is the Japanese fruit liqueur whose success has increased considerably in recent years. Very appreciated for its spicy and refreshing side, yuzushu is made from a small Japanese citrus fruit close to the lemon called yuzu from which it takes its name.
